This week, we’re shining a spotlight on the person who keeps the technical engine running at Ideatec: Sébastien Logist, our Technical Director.
His playground? Everything from R&D to after-sales support, by way of design, testing and industrialization. But if you had to sum up what really drives him, it’s simple: understanding what customers actually need, and turning that into reliable, meaningful technical solutions. Not technology for technology’s sake : engineering that makes sense.
Day to day, Sébastien splits his time between coordinating technical projects, supporting the engineering team, and shaping the technical roadmap in line with the company’s vision. His conviction: the best ideas rarely come from behind a desk. That’s why he pushes his team to stay as close as possible to end users, to see how products really live out in the field.
What he values most about Ideatec? A close-knit team where everyone plays an essential role, quick decision-making, and innovation that grows out of collaboration rather than silos.
His work in three words: creativity, commitment, expertise.
Before joining Ideatec, Sébastien spent six years with a company in the same industry, where he built a solid understanding of customer expectations and how things really work in the field. He then joined Ideatec as a Technical Sales Representative, a role he held for more than ten years, developing close relationships with customers and helping them find the best technical solutions for their applications.
In 2022, he took on a new challenge, stepping into the role of Technical Director. Today, he brings that customer-facing experience together with his technical expertise to lead Ideatec’s innovation strategy and help shape solutions that meet both market needs and the company’s long-term vision.
Outside the office, Sébastien stays true to form: a passionate cyclist and mountain enthusiast, he also channels his creative energy into his rock band, where he loves fine-tuning arrangements down to the last detail. He sees a lot of overlap with engineering there too : blending creativity with technical rigor, making every piece fit perfectly into the whole, and never settling for the first solution that works.
